actionable information for stewardship

The purpose of this site is to provide Adirondack landowners with actionable and up-to-date information for good stewardship. There are many organizations and sites focused on specific aspects of stewardship, but landowners who want to practice good stewardship have to do extensive research to find answers to the questions they know to ask. This site is focused on bringing the relevant information into one place.

This site is intended to be regularly updated based on the best current information. If you have any revisions or updates, please send them along with supporting references to adkstewardship@gmail.com, and we'll do our best to incorporate it.

Private land constitutes approximately 52 percent of the 6 million acre Adirondack Park. Laws and regulations provide good baseline protection for private lands, but landowners have the opportunity to do much more to protect the wild character of the places they love for future generations. In many circumstances, private landowners can protect ecological integrity and promote biological diversity to an extent not possible on public land.
